Woori Bank in Japan's Warfare Lost to Powerhouse ENEOS

Asan Woori Bank Woori WON lost 46-75 to ENEOS Sunflower at ENEOS Practice Gymnasium in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, Japan on the 12th.

Woori Bank visited Chiba Prefecture on the 11th for a training camp in Japan. Woori Bank had a practice game with ENEOS and Hitachi High-Tech Cougars, who visited Korea after the 2024 Park Shin-ja Cup, and finally visited Japan. 안전놀이터

Woori Bank and ENEOS share many similarities. Both teams are prestigious pro teams representing Korean and Japanese women's basketball, and they have won numerous championships. Adding to this is the fact that the team inevitably entered into rebuilding mode due to changes in the composition of its players recently.

Woori Bank left Park Hye-jin, Choi Yi-sam and Na Yoon-jung as new teams as FA qualifications, and Park Ji-hyun also advanced to the New Zealand League. In the meantime, Shim Sung-young, Park Hye-mi, and Kim Ye-jin were reinforced. Nine of the entire team went out, and six new players were recruited. It is a process in which new players are joining together along with the existing Kim Dan-bi and Lee Myung-kwan.

ENEOS also had a height gap as its star star centers, Tokashiki Ramu and Sayaka Okamoto, moved to Aishin. Although Umeza, Kadisha Juna and Okoe Monica have been recruited, they have not yet been able to show 100% teamwork with existing Miyazaki Saori.

It was Woori that took the lead in the match between the two teams. Woori showed off its performance when it had three wins in the qualifying round at the Park Shin-ja Cup until the first half of the day. Kim Dan-bi and Han Um-ji alternately kept the inside position, while Snaga and Natsuki worked hard to get an outside chance.

As a result, Woori Bank took a slight lead by recording 27-26 in the first half.

However, Woori's upward trajectory was dampened in the second half like a lie. Woori players couldn't control ENEOS players' movements in the third quarter, and their offense didn't go away.

ENEOS targeted Woori Bank's inside with 188cm-tall center Umezawa at the forefront, and Japan's representative guards, Saori Miyazaki and Mako Fujimoto, also supported on the outside line.

Woori Bank, which was pushed back by 12-25 in the third quarter alone, collapsed helplessly by allowing 24 runs in the fourth quarter and scoring only seven points at the same time. Compared to ENEOS, which took a wide range of rotations, Woori Bank, which actually played only six to seven players, had no choice but to lose out in physical strength.

"Strong teams don't collapse this easily. When they collapse at once, it means there is a problem. I think this is our reality and I hope the players feel something," Wi Sung-woo said after the match.
